Healed by love through faith

Written by Bridget Greatness

Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus lived in the city of Jericho. Being blind, he sat along the streets of Jericho begging for alms. There came a day when Jesus and His disciples came to Jericho and spent some time there.  As they were leaving the town, a large crowd was behind them. Bartimaeus must have heard stories about Jesus the Nazarene for wherever He went, news of Him spread about. “And when he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home” – Mark 2:1

Bartimaeus was sitting by the roadside begging when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth. He began to cry out, “son of David, Jesus! Mercy, have mercy on me!

Many tried to hush him up but he yelled all the louder, “son of David! Mercy, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, call him. And they called the blind man, telling him; “take courage! Get up! He is calling you”. And throwing off his outer garment, he leapt up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And Bartimaeus said to him, “Master, I want to see!” Jesus replied, “Go your way; your faith has healed you”. And at once, he received his sight and accompanied Jesus on the road.

Bartimaeus called out persistently in faith unto Jesus, he had heard all that Jesus had been doing. He knew Jesus could do the same for him in faith, hence he didn’t give up. It was also out of great love that Jesus called out for the blind beggar and restored his sight for He could have ignored him. Many times Jesus healed out of compassion for the people. Here we see the faith which works by love.  “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love” – Galatians 5:6.

Because God loves you greatly, believe it! I assure you that your faith in Him for anything won’t fail. God loves you because He does; He is willing to give you His all. “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” – Mark 11:24.

GOD LOVES YOU GREATLY

I hope you’ll be blessed as you meditate on the scriptures below.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” – Matthew 7:7-11

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” – John 17:23

In this, the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.” – 1 John 4:9

This story teaches me alot about desire.
Jesus tested Bartimaeus’ desire levels when he said “call him”
Jesus neither went to him nor said the people around to bring him yet He knew the man was blind. But because he desired so much to be healed, he leaped and was able to reach Jesus and was then healed.
How much do you desire to be healed from that sinful condition you are struggling with? Dont lower your desire levels only grow them for God has in His word that He will give us the desires of our hearts.

What a strong belief in Christ!
We also have the same privilege of holding onto Him, shouting even the more, and He shall answer our prayers as promised.
Thanks alot for sharing
