DOES GOD TRUST YOU?

Lessons from Job, written by Bunjo

The pursuit of wealth and riches is by far the biggest and most flooded race. Many have been able to acquire all the wealth they desire, some have given up while others are still on the road but the biggest discussion should be, how we react when the path is winding. Do we stick to the plan when the curve is leading downwards or do we remain firm on the basics when things don’t go our way?

Job was a blessed man with immense wealth and riches of all kinds ranging from cattle, sheep, oxen, and camels among others. Not only was Job blessed with wealth, but he was also blessed with very beautiful children. (Job 1:1-4)

God and Satan are in a conversation where God asked Satan whether he had noticed his faithful servant Job, a man of value and stature. How many of us are noticed by God? The conclusion of the talk was that Job was to be tested if he was truly faithful or if he remained true only because God had blessed him with abundance. (Job 1:6-12)

The story gets more interesting or sad when Job lost all he ever had in life including his children. The beauty of this story is that he remained faithful, stuck to the principles of his life, and remained firm in the Lord even despite getting advice from his wife to curse God and die. This is a warning to all of us that even our beloved friends can sometimes give us the wrong advice.  Even with the greatest boils all over his body, Job remained true to God. “And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord”. In all this, Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.” – Job 1:21-22.

Job’s friends thought they were right about him wronging God in whatever way (Job 4, 8 and 11). They uttered all sorts of words and accusations, but Job knew who he was and remained firm to his word. Our friends today may give us all sorts of advice, and most times they could be right, but Job’s friends prove us otherwise, our friends could also be wrong. That, however, shouldn’t divert us from the truth or make us think like them. If we know who we are and believe that, then our feet should be planted on solid ground.

Job faced both sides of the coin, he knew what it meant to have wealth in abundance and to have nothing at all.  Amidst all the pain Job went through, regardless of all his sufferings, Job remained TRUE to God. He remained FAITHFUL to his creator. Job trusted God, and stood firm and he is a perfect example for us today.

When we have a lot or nothing at all, do we remain true to God? Here’s the biggest question, does God trust you? That even in your lowest points, He is sure you shall remain true to Him. DOES GOD TRUST YOU?
