You are Destined for Greatness!

Date preached June 17, 2021

While contemplating the birth of Moses and that of Jesus, I was thinking gosh!!! What’s the worst that can happen to someone? Google gave some interesting answers like being buried alive, seeing the love of your life with another (how are they even the love of your life? Anyway, that’s a topic for another day), when nobody likes you, etc. Being disliked is actually really tough but can we actually live positively in such a situation?

Imagine being born in a place where you’re disliked and the people in the city or in the area where you’ve been born can’t stand your existence. Tough!!!

I mean, what’s the worst that can happen? This was the story for Jesus and Moses. But what about you? Imagine living in an environment where you’re just struggling to exist, where you feel like what’s the point in doing this life thing? You know what sis or bro; you actually have a purpose. You are destined for greatness. That alone should give you the motivation to live. And you’re not doing life alone but with the Almighty on your side. What more can a human want!!!

These are the stories of two men who had a PURPOSE. Moses was to rescue the Israelites from the bondage of slavery from the Egyptians and Jesus Christ was to rescue mankind from the bondage of slavery to sin. The devil didn’t want any of these to happen and so he started his plans and the battle before the children’s birth. When they were born, there was no reception, no place for rest or safety. Did the children grow though? They did! Was the purpose of their lives fulfilled? It was!

King Pharaoh tried so hard to fight the Israelites to destroy them. He wanted them extinct because their existence threatened his kingdom but the more, he oppressed them, the more they multiplied. He then used the midwives and asked them to kill the male children at birth. The Hebrew women were vigorous and didn’t need a midwife to deliver children. Won’t God come through? Pharaoh then made another order to cast the male children onto the river Nile. This is how Moses survived and grew up as a prince in the Egyptian palace. Imagine a Hebrew boy as a Prince in Egypt. Find the detailed story in Exodus 1-8

King Herod was threatened by Jesus’ birth because he thought he’d lose the throne to Him. He also used crafty ways by asking the wise men to give directions to where the baby was so he could go and “worship” Him. Lol, What a fabulist! Anyway, the wise men had dreamed and were warned not to return to Herod. He then used force. He ordered all the male children in Bethlehem under 2 years to be killed. The whole time the angels communicated to Joseph and he responded without delay. They fled to Egypt and later, returned after Herod had died. Find the detailed story in Matthew 2.

Yes, Jesus is God’s son but aren’t you God’s daughter, aren’t you God’s son? Does God show favoritism? Of course not! So be rest assured of His protection and guidance and act when He requires you to do so.

Now brethren, what battle are you fighting? Do you feel so tired of this world because you can’t find rest? Is it a constant illness, an abusive environment, betrayal in your friendships, division in families name it? The devil is attacking you left right and centre and you’re exhausted. But, would he attack you for no reason? He knows that you have a great purpose to fulfill and he doesn’t want that to happen. See God’s promise in Habakkuk 2:3“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end – It will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

Now the problems of this world are just getting worse by the day. It is important for us as children of God to know how He communicates with us. God speaks to us through the Bible, through angels, both earthly and heavenly ones, through prophecies, through dreams, etc. Get up and commune with God, ask Him about your life, inquire from Him and He will reveal to you. Pray over your revelations. In the case of the wise men and Joseph, when they received direction from God, they obeyed with no delay. Call it faith. Exercise your faith in the word of God, Brethren. You might spend a lot of time in a situation but meditate on the promise in Habakkuk 2:3. If it seems slow, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not delay.

Find your rest and safety in God. You are destined for greatness! Be blessed😊.
